Tana Foarfa, 27 years old, is currently an advisor for a Romanian MEP, monitoring the activity of the ECON committee. She was an active part of the European Parliament negotiating team of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the largest financial instrument created by the European Parliament to help Member States recover after the pandemic. Prior to that, she worked on files such as Reform Support Programme, InvestEU and provided written and oral input for financial instruments and policies on skills, industrial strategy, sustainability, measures for children and youth. She is a thorough EU affairs expert, knowing the institutions from the inside, as in 2015 she was a learning and development consultant for the European Commission, being recruted by the European Commission in 2016. Tana has a bachelor in political science from Université Libre de Bruxelles and also holds a master degree in European Studies from KU Leuven, her main field of expertise being EU external relations. Currently she is a PhD student in international relations and European Studies at the Doctoral School of European Paradigm from Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, in order to research the concept of resilience and how the European recovery post COVID-19 crisis consolidates EU’s role on the global scene. During her bachelor studies, Tana coordinated a ULB team of students that attended the International NATO simulation in Washington D.C., where she was awarded the Outstading Delegation Award for the activity and negotiation skills. She is well known in Romania for her volunteer activity at Europuls-Centre of European Expertise, being an EU affairs expert with numerous articles, interviews, interventions, studies and reports published on national and European media platforms. She organized and moderated 4 editions of the Eurosfat forum, the largest forum on EU affairs in Romania. She made a solid contribution to the Romanian civil society during her mandate as Director of this NGO, obtained at only 25 years old, monitoring the Romanian Presidency to the Council of the EU, providing training for citizens, journalists, business representatives about the Presidency and the European elections, analyzing the political programmes of the Romanian political parties and aiming to fight disinformation ahead of the European elections.
